Blog Tour Saving the Sheriff by Kadie Scott

Meet the Author:

Award-winning contemporary romance author, Kadie Scott, grew up consuming books and exploring the world through her writing. She attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing). However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.

No matter the genre, she loves to write witty, feisty heroines, sexy heroes who deserve them, and a cast of lovable characters to surround them (and maybe get their own stories). She currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own personal hero, her husband, and their two children, who are growing up way too fast.

About the Book:

 There’s a storm brewin’…

The day his wife died, Sheriff Cash Hill discovered she was leaving him for another man, one she’d loved since before their marriage. How could the single dad ever trust another woman again? But when Georgia’s best friend, Holly, comes back to town, something about Holly’s sweet, sassy vulnerability has his protective instincts kicking in hard.

Holly Jensen left La Colina, Texas with regrets. She’s returned home to work as the new large animal vet and to watch over her best friend’s daughter. But Holly’s knowledge of Georgia’s past could rip a family apart. And she’s reluctant to go to the sexy…and single…sheriff, as he’s made it clear he wants nothing to do with her.

Both are faced with a choice…stay locked in the past or allow their reservations to be silenced by a passion hotter than Texas summer nights. Can they learn to trust their own hearts and each other?

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book as an ARC through Netgally/Authors Pal and this is my HONEST review...

This is my first book by author Kadie Scott.

Heartache- so much of it fills this book making it hard for me to breathe at times. Cash, Holly and little Sophia all had their share of heartache. It's a story of secrets and heartache but also of love. I look forward to reading more by this author in the future.

review of Protecting Ariana by Lynne St. James

Protecting Ariana (Beyond Valor #8)Protecting Ariana by Lynne St. James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I received this book as an ARC via Book Funnel and this is my HONEST review...

My first thoughts on this book was that it felt short- well duh! It's a novella! Mr. Darcy stole the show! He was practically in every scene and the way he was written made me laugh, I mean really laugh! True to form, Ms. St James descriptive writing is present in this book as well as others, making you feel as if you a fly on the wall watching the scenes unfold and events take place.

It's not that the story totally felt unfinished (it is a novella after all and only so much can fit in the pages of a novella), it feels as if the author intends to write more about several characters because she leaves many open endings, even with our main characters- hence my 4 star rating. Do I recommend this book? Yes.
Please note that there is NO sex in this book and the heat level is set to one on this book. There is plenty of intrigue though.

Trying the Knot by J.M. Madden

Trying the Knot

Emily Lowell is in a pickle. At her Brother Chad’s wedding shower, her former lover, Jackson, has just shown her exactly how combustible they still are together.
Yes, they made a pact to marry if she hadn’t found anyone else within ten years, but the pact is moot. She’s now engaged to be married to one of the hottest real estate brokers in Houston.
Should she be swayed by the wild heat that Jackson stokes in her, or should she follow the path she’s planned since college?
Jackson may not give her a choice…

Excerpt

He chuckled, breath puffing against her ear as he pulled her closer, her breasts against the iron wall of his chest. "We used to be so good together, Emily."
Yes, they had. She would admit that. But it was years in the past. She'd moved on with her life and career. No matter how good he felt, she had other obligations.
He rubbed against her again and she realized that it wasn't his hip. "Jackson," she hissed in warning, her cheeks flushing.
But he merely tilted his head sideways, blocking them from other people's gazes. "Yes, Emily," he breathed into her ear.
A shiver coursed through her and she could have cursed. She wasn't supposed to show any reaction to him, but the touch felt so good. Just like it had been so long ago. Both of his hands gripped her hips, and there was no denying what was between them now, pushing her back. Emily had a moment to wonder where he was guiding her to before a door opened behind her and they slipped through.
Emily hadn't even known this door was here. Glancing around, she saw they were in the stall area of the barn. It was dimly lit, horses moving softly in the bedding. "We can't..."
That was all she got out before his mouth took her own.
Emily should have known this was coming. Jackson did not give up easily and her being with another man just didn't jive with his possession issues. Though she'd been gone years, he still considered her his.
Moaning, she tried to pull away, but he angled his head again, sweeping his tongue into her mouth. Oh god, he tasted sublime. For the barest moment, she allowed herself to enjoy the kiss. Her knees quivered and she almost lost her balance.
Then one of his hands glided down her back to cup her ass, pulling her tight against his erection. Arousal flooded through her, making her slick with want. Emily dug her fingers into his shirt, not sure if she was pushing or pulling away. Neither. Both.
She couldn't do this. This wasn't part of the plan. Straightening her arms, she pushed at his chest. Slowly, he pulled his mouth away, but he was grinning.
"You might be able to fool everyone else, Emily, but you can't fool me. If I slid a finger inside you right now you would be wet and throbbing, and I could make you come in seconds."
Fuck, he was right. She was throbbing. Aching. Trying desperately to remember why this was a bad idea.
Oh, yes. Neil.
"I'm engaged to be married, Jackson."
His white teeth gleamed in the darkness. "Not for long."
Turning, he walked passed the stalls and out of the barn.

Book Release- Scoring with the Wrng Twin by Naima Simone

Meet the Author:

USA Today Bestselling author Naima Simone’s love of romance was first stirred by Johanna Lindsey, Sandra Brown and Linda Howard many years ago. Well not that many.

She is only eighteen…ish. Though her first attempt at a romance novel starring Ralph Tresvant from New Edition never saw the light of day, her love of romance, reading and writing has endured. Published since 2009, she spends her days—and nights— writing sizzling romances with a touch of humor and snark. She is wife to Superman, or his non-Kryptonian, less bullet proof equivalent, and mother to the most awesome kids ever. They all live in perfect, sometimes domestically-challenged bliss in the southern United States.

About the Book:

Shy, awkward Sophia Cruz has a hard time telling her vivacious identical twin “no.” But when her sister begs her to swap places for a modeling shoot, she caves … again. Then Zephirin Black walks onto the set. The brooding, aloof, and gorgeous tight end for the Washington Warriors. But she can keep it professional… She has to. Because the adorkable Cruz twin has no luck with guys once they compare her to her sister.

After a bad break-up, Zeph hasn’t been big on second chances—and even less with trust. But he finds himself giving please-call-me-by-my-middle-name-Sophia both. The woman he’d dismissed as a spoiled cover model is different from the first time he met her. Quirkier. Funnier. Definitely sexier. What started as one night turns into another…and another…and another…

Still, Sophia can’t go on keeping her secret from him. But telling Zeph the truth will mean losing him for good.

review of Trying the Knot by J.M. Madden

Trying the Knot (The Lowells of Honeywell, Texas, #3)Trying the Knot by J.M. Madden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received an ARC of Trying the Knot" in exchange for an honest review.

Ms Madden has brought us another wonderful insight to the Lowell Family dynamic. IN this story, we gain a better insight into Jackson Windwalker as Ms. Madden gives us his his backstory. I honestly cried while readying his story, silent tears streaked down my cheeks.

Emily Lowell isn't exactly the black sheep of the family, but she also knows what she wants to do career wise and ranching isn't it. She makes a life and starts her own business in Houston- miles and miles away from her family in Honeywell Texas.

We come now to Emily and Jackson- their love was young and wild and everything first love could possibly be. Reading the love between these two was what made this story so believable. It's why you feel the way you do about Jackson going after his girl, you want him to regain Emily's love.
Before Emily left for college, she and Jackson made a pact, they gave themselves 10 years to meet someone else, fall in love and get married, if they hadn't, that they would meet again...It's now 11 years later. Emily knows that she's in trouble- in a couple of ways but she's too proud to admit it, to anyone. Jackson has only once ever let anyone get into his heart and that was Emily. For Emily, she's compared every man she's ever met and dated to Jackson. She might be engaged but she knows in her heart she's not with the right man, one who will put HER and their relationship First.
I loved how Ms. Madden shows us how deep Jackson's love for Emily truly is and what he's willing to give up in order to have that forever kind of love that he knows it out there with Emily. Emily needs a wake up call and Jackson delivers it to her in a most unexpected and delightful way. He might of come on strong while they were in Honeywell, but here in Houston, his love is soft and not over powering. He lets Emily make all of the moves...he knows her better than anyone, even herself.

This was a wonderful book and I hope that Ms. Madden decides to expand on this series.

review of Cowboy SEAL Homecoming by Nicole Helm

Cowboy SEAL Homecoming (Navy SEAL Cowboys, #1)Cowboy SEAL Homecoming by Nicole Helm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I received this book as an ARC through Netgalley and this is an honest review of what I've read...

What a stunning book! This is my first book by author Nicole Helm and it certainly won't be my last. When writing about the different types of PTSD, I find myself critical of any author who doesn't do his or her homework on the subject. This book was astounding! Hats off to you Ms. Helm for taking the time to research this complex mental health issue with our military men and women and show it in a light that most people can understand.

The characters were well written and likable, the book was a page turner to be sure and held my attention throughout. I read this book twice and I can not say enough GOOD and positive things about it.

Silent Threat (Mission Recovery #1)Silent Threat by Dana Marton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this book through Netgalley for an honest review...

I'm giving this story a 3 and here's why
While the characters Cole and Annie were likable, the story itself didn't grab me and to be honest I was hard pressed to finish it. It was slow paced and the ending seemed rushed.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review
I'm giving this book a solid 3 star rating. Let me make this perfectly clear, I didn't hate it, it was okay...and that's just it, it was just okay. It's a modern day retelling of Beauty and the Beast and it just struck me as too many momma issues for both of our lead characters.

Funny story about this book- I had bought it and a week later I received an email notifying me of this ARCthrough Netgalley.
So here is my review of Claimjng Bailey by Susan Stoker.

Have you ever read a book and kept saying to yourself- Oh that did not just happen? I found myself saying this a lot. The suspense factor was HIGH and at times my heart was in my throat. It’s the complex cast of characters and Ms. Stoker’s way of interweaving a mystery and laying the groundwork to her next story that keeps me coming back for more.
