Review of Deserving Tayrn by AC Wilson

Deserving Taryn (Levi & Taryn, #3)Deserving Taryn by A.C. Wilson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I wish that I could give this book more than 5 stars

Ms.Wilson surprised me this with this series and especially this book. Although this series was written to be "young adult", it rates right up there with contemporary romance (just without the sex scenes).

From the moment that we meet Tayrn we know that she's got some personal issues (don't we all), and there's Levi-the boy she left behind. After we left them in book 3, we see that they've both grow up., There are times when I wanted to shake Tayrn until she comes to her senses...but that's why it's a Young Adult book- she's got to make these mistakes and it's when she realizes that she's made mistakes, some pretty big ones that she figures out what she wants to do with her life. The most startling revaluation is when she realizes that the boy she left behind is the one person that she can't live without. But she's going to have to figure that out as he has moved on.

So much angst and heartache for one girl to live through, the turn around she does and she finds the place where she's meant to be.
But it, Read it, Review it, reccomend it to your friends!
I was gifted this ARC and this is my personal opinion of this book.

Poor Boy's Christmas with Bonus Book The Greatest Gift (Mail Order Brides of Texas 5)Poor Boy's Christmas with Bonus Book The Greatest Gift by Kathleen Ball
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have truly enjoyed the Mail Order Bride series by Ms Ball. Poor Boy is an orphan and he makes an appearance in each book throughout this series, and you wonder what is going to become of him. Here we see him all grown up and he still tugs on our heartstrings. This book is truly a Christmas gift to us readers!
Worth more that the 5 stars I'm giving it!

Excerpt

The world passed by in colors of green and blue. Not a single color to remind me of the place where I had spent the last four years of my life. But I didn’t need much of a reminder. Those thoughts were imbedded in my brain, flashes of moments that came and went whenever they pleased. No matter what I tried, I could never get away from the desert. Not even on this train, drowning in the colors of lush trees and shimmering rivers that blur before my eyes. Just as buildings and houses began to pop up among the trees, the click-clack of the train wheels began to slow.

“Main Street Station,” the conductor’s voice echoed through the car. Other men in camouflage stood before me, all of them staring out the window at the approaching train station. I stared with them, holding on to some small shred of hope that Grace would be waiting for me. But I knew that wouldn’t be. I hadn’t told anyone I would be arriving early, so there was no way she could have known. But some part of me hoped she would feel my homecoming and show up on a whim. To see only a glimpse of her face would make this agony a little less harsh.

Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines dashed for the exits with their duffle bags thrown over their backs. I took a deep breath and stood, making my way to the front of the car. The conductor shook my hand before I stepped down to the platform. No words were spoken, but I nodded when I met his eye. After all, I did this for him. I did this for everyone.

I stepped off the train, and for the first time in my life, I adored Southern humidity. I breathed it in, letting the moist air fill my chest. And then I coughed, the sand rattling my lungs. I looked around me, feeling jealous of the many joyous reunions. I had seen my fair share of battles, but coming home was going to be the worst battle I ever had to endure. A homecoming without my father. A homecoming without the love of my life. Some things couldn’t be fixed, but I could still undo one wrong. I could tell my daughter I was her father.

Lainey frowned and refastened her hair back in a messy ponytail, not willing to recall that bit of the day. She’d met five men, a couple of them in the workout room, and two sitting in Jon’s office poring over files. But one, in particular, had stuck in her head. He’d been in a spare, small office—more like a closet but with less character—in front of a wall covered with different computer monitors set up on a wobbly, cheap-looking table. Like the kind you’d rent for a party and cover with a nice tablecloth. He’d barely grunted out an acknowledgment of her presence and hadn’t turned to look at her at all—which was too bad because he was quite the specimen. He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, his dark tanned and tatted biceps covered in a sheen of sweat. She remained in the doorway while Jon and Zane consulted with him about some case or another, taking the opportunity to study his leg—or what passed for it now. He had one of those blade-style prosthetics from right below his left knee. It was pretty amazing, and she wished it were polite to ask if she could see it closer. By the time she snapped back to herself, she realized the room had gone silent. She blinked and backed away from the man, still sitting at the rickety table, now staring holes into her with the biggest, most expressive pair of blue eyes she’d ever seen. “Take a picture, it’ll last longer,” he’d said. “This is Owen,” Jon had said then. “You’ll be replacing him as the official FNG.” She smiled at Owen, figuring he’d do what most men did and freeze like a deer in the headlights for a few seconds. Instead, he frowned at her and turned back to his screens. “Owen is our IT expert,” Zane had said, filling the awkward silence that followed. “You know computer geeks. No accounting for them, sociability-wise.” He turned to Lainey and guided her down the hall toward a small conference room. Her ears were hot and her mind buzzing with the memory of him—the elaborate, interwoven vines inked on what she could see of his muscular arms were seared in her mind. It had been a damn long time since Lainey had been physically attracted to a man. The last time it happened, it was an unmitigated disaster, leading her to her current state of broke and always looking over her shoulder. She set her jaw and forced Owen’s tattoos, metal leg, and amazing eyes right out of her brain.
