Review of Yours to Love by Cathy Jackson

Yours to LoveYours to Love by Cathy Jackson
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I received this book an an ARC by the author and this is my opinion on what I've read.

This is my first time reading anything written by author Cathy Jackson. Although the book blurb does not say it, this is a Christian based book with emphasis on praying to God frequently. It also ends in a cliffhanger (another thing that's not mentioned). If these things bother you, then this may not be the book for you.

Our female lead is Ruthie, she's portrayed to be a devout Christian, praying to God for guidance in just about everything in her life. She's hard working, honest and devoted. Our male lead Maximilian, he's a divorced single father of two children and distrusting of most people.
This is supposed to be a love story between two people but there was never actual acknowledgment of said relationship other than being employer/employee between the characters.
Both Ruthie and Max have an attraction to one another, but the constant inner dialogues of their acknowledgement of the attraction and their subsequent refusal to act on it - well I found it to be off putting. Although the book is well written, that does not mean that book is not without flaws- the interaction between the two main characters seems at times awkward and stunted. The story is not concluded in this book and an additional purchase will be required.
